Student relief fund for financial emergencies

The student parliament of TU Dortmund University has set up student relief funds from which loans can be granted to students. The student relief funds committee, which is elected annually in the student parliament, decides on granting the loan.

In order to bridge a short-term emergency situation through no fault of their own, TU Dortmund students can receive an interest-free loan of up to a maximum of 2,000 euros. We help you to pay your most urgent bills, e.g. the next semester fee, your rent, health insurance.

The application must be accompanied by the following proofs

  • Passport/ID card (both sides + possibly work permit/residence permit)
  • Certificate of enrollment (or provisional certificate of enrollment)
  • Certificate of exam registrations and/or grade transcripts from the BOSS system
  • Provide bank statements of the last 3 months of all accounts (savings account, credit card, PayPal, Klarna, etc.)
  • Lease agreement (if not evident from bank statements)
  • Health insurance certificate (if not evident from bank statements)
  • If applicable, employment contract or previous employment contract
  • If applicable, reminders for late payment

Unfortunately, no loan can be granted if you haven’t send the required proofs.

Procedure for obtaining a loan

  1. The application and the required documents should usually be submitted to us by mail (hilfe@asta.tu-dortmund.de). However, you can also submit the printed documents to our office.
  2. The student relief funds committee decides on the granting of the loan at a meeting that usually takes place within the next two weeks after receiving your application.
  3. If the loan is provisionally approved by the committee, the contract is drawn up.
  4. Once the contract has been drawn up, it must also be approved by the Chair and the Finance Officer of the AStA.
  5. You will then be notified by mail if the loan has been finally approved.

Approximately 3 weeks may elapse between the time of application and the transfer of the loan.
Please plan for this when submitting your application.

We explicitly point out that the first repayment installment must be paid no later than 6 months after receiving the loan. Repayment is possible at any time and can be repaid in installments of at least 50€.

As this is the student body’s money, it is important that repayments are made on time and in the agreed amount. Failure to comply with this obligation can very quickly result in legal fees and bailiff fees for you.

Deferment request

If you have difficulties with the repayment, a deferment request can be submitted to pause the repayment.
IMPORTANT: proof in the form of bank statements from the last 3 months must be submitted.
