HIV Testaktion mit der Aidshilfe Dortmund und dem Gesundheitsamt
Wir veranstalten zusammen mit der AIDS-Hilfe Dortmund, dem Förderverein zur Bekämpfung von AIDS und dem Gesundheitsamt eine kostenlose Testaktion auf dem Campus. Ihr könnt euch am 9. und 10. Mai zwischen 10 und 14 Uhr im Foyer des SRG 1 auf das Virus testen lassen.
Nicole Hohenkirch von der Dortmunder Aidshilfe sagt*: „Es ist wichtig, von seiner Infektion zu wissen und im Falle einer Infektion die notwendigen Medikamente zu bekommen, ehe man wirklich krank wird. (…) Bei einer HIV-Therapie unterdrücken Medikamente das Virus im Körper. HIV ist dann beim Geschlechtsverkehr nicht übertragbar. Gelangt das Virus in den Körper, befällt es bestimmte Zellen des Immunsystems und schwächt die Abwehrkräfte des Körpers. Ohne Behandlung führt das nach einiger Zeit fast immer zu schweren und lebensbedrohlichen Krankheiten. An diesem Punkt spricht man von AIDS. Mit einer HIV-Therapie lässt sich AIDS verhindern. So können Menschen mit HIV heute gut und lange leben.“

🇬🇧 World Aids Day
The AIDS-Hilfe Dortmund together with the local health authority will be hosting two AIDS-testing-days on campus. The tests will be free. You can find them at the Foyer of SRG 1 on May 9th and 10th from 10:00 to 14:00.
Nicole Hohenkirch, head of AIDS-Hilfe Dortmund says: „It’s important to know about your infection in order to get the right medication before you actually get sick. HIV-therapy works because medication suppresses the virus in your body so it cannot be transmitted sexually. When the virus gets in, certain cells in your immune system get affected and weakens the body’s defenses. Without treatment, this leads to severe and fatal illnesses. At this point, you call it AIDS. With HIV-therapy, AIDS can be prevented. Therefore, today, people with HIV can have a good and long life.“
