The Writer’s Room: English Creative Writing Group

Mail: tu.writersroom@gmail.com
Web: http://tu-writers-room.tumblr.com/

We are a group of students from the Technical University of Dortmund who just enjoy writing – from short stories and poems to blogs and novel-length projects. Our official language within the group is English in order to open it to any student of our uni. However, we basically write in any language which we think fits the individual story best… So if you like to write or would like to get into it, if you are looking for feedback or simply people to share your passion with, feel free to stop by.

Theater AG

We, the AStA-Theater-AG of the TU Dortmund University, focus on improvised theater under the name inTUition. The plays we perform are created in the moment, through random input from the audience – a location, a first sentence, an everyday feat. So each of our stories is unique, unfolding as action-packed or absurd, funny or heart-wrenching.

To do this, we hold rehearsals every Wednesday from 6:00 pm – 7:45 pm, and you are invited to attend as well. There we will work out methods that will help us to improvise theater scenes spontaneously. We will play a lot of theater, discuss our scenes together, and above all: have a lot of fun without having to prepare much. The offer is aimed at absolute beginners and experienced actors alike. Participation is free of charge and can be regular or irregular. So: dare to jump on stage and let yourself be surprised where the scene will lead!

More info is available online at https://www.intuition-improtheater.de/ and we also have a presence on Instagram as @intuition_improtheater

To find out about the space or for any other concerns, please contact us in advance at info@intuition-improtheater.de

Script Theater: a group for traditional scripted theater does not currently exist. If you are interested, please write to us anyway – if there are several people interested, we can put you in touch with each other.

Note: Our rehearsals are happening in German language only. If you are interested in English theater, please write to us anyway – if there are several people interested, we can put you in touch with each other.

The Uni-Film-Club is a university cinema by students for students. Even though our members come from a wide variety of disciplines, we are united by our enthusiasm for films and the cinema atmosphere. But also the taste in movies is very different. From James Bond fans to friends of various genres to lovers of surrealistic works of art, everything is represented. We therefore strive, also a little selfishly, to offer the right program for every taste.

During our cinema screenings, we offer snacks and drinks at student-friendly prices. The offer ranges from beer and coke, chips and gummi bears to the classic popcorn.

During the lecture period you can find us every Wednesday evening at 8:15 pm in lecture hall 1 of EF50. Once a month we also show a movie in the original version (usually in English).

You can find out what exactly we are showing on our website or via social media.

Group of human rights

Humboldtstr. 44, 44137 Dortmund
Mail: hochschulgruppe@ai-dortmund.de

The Working Group for Human Rights is open to all those who wish to campaign for the protection of human rights worldwide. We contribute to human rights education, draw public attention to human rights violations and campaign at the highest level for the elimination of abuses. To this end, we organize information stands and events, such as film evenings at the Dortmunder Auslandsgesellschaft or the “Human Rights Slam” at Subrosa. We also collect signatures for the release of non-violent political prisoners. In order to maintain our neutrality, we concentrate on reports of human rights violations abroad. Exceptions to this are, for example, the topics of flight and asylum. Overall, we are closely aligned with the aims and methods of Amnesty International, from which we also obtain our information and material. (However, we are also happy to work with other organizations). In fact, the Human Rights Working Group was previously known as the Amnesty International University Group.

We meet every first Tuesday (7pm) and every third Thursday (8pm) of the month respectively in the Amnesty-Office Dortmund, Siegfriedstraße 12, 44137 Dortmund. Come along, we look forward to seeing you!
